Spring is the last season of the year. It comprises the months of Falgun and Chaitra. It comes after the biting cold of winter. It is called the king of seasons because of its beauty and charm. The weather is neither hot nor cold. A gentle, pleasant breeze blows from the south. It refreshes our mind and body.
The scenery of nature becomes very beautiful in spring. Trees put forth new leaves. Flowers of various colours and sweet fragrance bloom. Mango-trees are covered with blossoms. The cuckoo, the harbinger of spring, sings from the mango-boughs. Its sweet note fills our heart with joy. The Doljatra, a popular festival of the Hindus, is held in this season. People play with coloured powders. Spring is indeed the most beautiful and enjoyable of all seasons in Bengal.
