My dear ruku,

Your letter is just to hand. In your letter you have scoffed at carpentry which I have been pursuing as my hobby since my early boyhood. You have called it antique and barbarous. Dear friend, I feel a bit surprized at your comment. I cannot make out what a hobby has to do with modernity or antiquity. A hobby is an occupation which a man pursues for pleasure or relaxation. Now carpentry fits in with my temperament, and gives me as much pleasure as stamp collecting gives you. Moreover, it gives me ample physical exercise. It expands my lungs, hardens my muscles and makes my body fit and strong. You know that health is the source of pleasure. Your pleasure will lose its relish if you cannot keep good health. Will your stamp-colle-cting conduce to your health? I am afraid that like any sedentary work it will tell upon your health. Carpentry is also of some benefit to my family. I can repair table, chairs etc. and make sundryseats. This saves my father a lot of expense.

No more today. Hoping to hear from you soon.

I am,
Your sincerely,
Irisha Tania
