If I Win a Lottery: 5 Crazy Things I Would Do First!
[Notes: How to spent two lac rupees-one lac for construction of pucka building, buying a colour TV, motorcycle, fancy wrist watch etc, costly clothings for mother and sisters. One lac spent in helping the poor, establishing a night school etc.]
M
an is fond of day-dreaming. I am no exception to this universal fondness of man. I often day-dream that I have won the first prize in a lottery and become a multimillionaire. I do not, however, stop short at day-dreaming. I often buy lottery tickets to translate my day-dreams into reality.
Now, if I win two lac rupees in a lottery, I will spend one lac towards my personal comforts and amenities. I will pull down the thatched house built by my father and construct a two-storied pucka building. I will buy a coloured television-set, a motor-cycle and an automatic HMT wrist-watch. I shall also buy for mother and sisters a number of costly saris of which they have so long dreamed of. I will also treat my friends and relatives to a grand feast.
I will spend the remaining one lac for the alleviation of the sufferings of the masses. I will put the greater part of this amount in a bank and will help the needy and the distressed with the interest of this money from time to time. The rest I will spend in establishing a night school where I will teach the illiterate villagers the three R's, the scientific methods of farming and the rules of health. Though I cannot satisfy the material wants of the poor, they will find a never-fai-ling friend in me.
