A Thrilling Cricket Match: A Ball-by-Ball Experience

[Notes:Match between your school and Mayapur school. (i) Your shcool batting first-preliminary collapse fine batting by the captain. 124 runs. (ii) Mayapur school-fine batting by the openers then collapse fine batting by the captain-116runs]

The other day I saw a very exciting cricket match. This match was played between our school and Mayapur school. Our school won the toss and elected to bat. Our start was disastrous.

The opening batsman, Sudhir was bowled out in the first over for nought. Three more wickets fell in quick succession for only 20 runs. But the complexion of the game was changed completely when our captain Babla came in to bat. He batted extermely well, and in company with the vice-captain, Prakash, took the score to 80. He delighted the spectators by hitting three huge sixes. He was unfortunately run out when he was just one run short of his fifty. The remaining four wickets fell quickly for only 20 runs. Our team were all out for 124 runs.

After lunch the rival team began to bat. Their openers batted well and scored thirty runs in about 50 minutes. But no sooner was their partnership broken than there was a collapse. They lost six wickets for only 50 runs. But their captain, renowned batsman of the locality, gave a fine display of his batting skill and hit every loose ball to the fence. It appeared that his team was going to win. But he was caught at slip in going to drive an overpitched delivery outside the off stump. The remaining wickets fell for only 5 runs. Mayapur school scored

116 runs. So we won by 8 runs.
