A TRIP (VISIT) TO A HILL STATION
[Notes: When you had the trip. How you went there. Sights seen on the way. Name the attractions of the hill-station you saw. What the greatest attraction?]

Last month I had a trip to Darjeeling, the queen among the hills (পাহাড়ের রাণী). I was accompanied by my parents.

We went to Siliguri by bus. There we got into the toy train and had a very pleasant journey. The train moved very slowly in a zigzag course. It constantly turned and twisted as it moved through the wooded hills. The sights of beautiful tea-gardens on either side of the railway track and beautiful mountain-springs here and there were simply wonderful. They were the things to dream of, not to tell. We reached Darjeeling after seven hours' joyful ride. We stayed at Darjeeling for a week, and saw all its attractions. We first visited the Zoo. There we saw the pandas (f), black bears, Royal Bengal tigers, leopards and and many kinds of strange birds. One day we went to the Botanical Garden and saw the rare orchids kept in a glass-room. We also saw the Dhirdham monastery, situated near the Darjeeling Railway station, the Victoria Falls, the Lebong race course, the highest race-course in the world, the Historical Muscum, the Governor's House, the Mahakal Hindoo temple, the Himalayan Mountaineering Institute and the rope-way from the North- Point to the Rangit valley.

One day we went to the Tiger Hill. From its observatory we had a fine view of the sunrise, and of Kanchenjungha looking magnificient in the rays of the rising sun. We went everyday to the Mall, the market-cum-park of Darjeeling. My visit to Darjeeling was thus an occasion of great joy to me
