The Day I Was Admitted to Class XI: A Whole New Journey Begins!

Notes; Admission novel experience: an atmosphere of freedom- the first class (English) the common room the canteen- the library.]

O

On an auspicious day I got myself admitted in Class XI, of K.N. College. When I came out of the office after admission I found an endless stream of students moving up and down the corridors in the most disorderly fashion. An atmosphere of freedom seemed to breathe all around. I went to the notice board and took down the class routine.

I joined my first class in Room No. I. It was S. B's English class, S.B. being the initials for the professor's name. There were about 150 students in the class. They were all gossiping. The professor came in with a register. He called the roll of students and delivered a speech in English. The bell for the next period rang. I rushed to Room No. 5 where a Physics class was to be taken by B.B. This change of class room in every period was a novel experience to me. There being no class in the next period I went to the Common Room. It was indeed a lovely place with plenty of noise and enthusiasm. I saw boys playing table-tennis and carrom. After spending a delightful quarter of an hour I stepped into the canteen where I found, to my utter surprise, boys

and girls sitting side by side and discussing politics. As the bell rang I entered Room No 23, but there was no class, because the teacher was absent. So I went to the library, and passed an hour there. I returned home at half past four.
