[Notes: Want to become a physician. Reasons for your choice: no doctor in your village people dying without treatment-only quacks intention to treat the poor patients gratis an opportunity to serve the poor villagers - gives you chance to remain at your village and look after your landed property.]

M

y aim in life is to become a physician. So I have decided that after passing the Higher Secondary Examination I shall go in for the course of medical studies. The reason why I like to be a doctor is the high rate of mortality in our village. Every year many poor people die in our village for want of proper medical treatment. Our village has many good things to boast of. But it has no qualified doctors. A man falling sick in our village has to go to a town nearby, or has to place himself under the treatment of a quack. After passing the M.B.B.S. Examina-tion I shall come back to the village and open a dispensary in my house. I shall treat the poor patients gratis. I shall, however, charge good fees from rich people, and this will enable me to defray the expenses of the dispensary and earn my livelihood. The medical profession will help me to serve the poor and ailing villagers and to snatch them away from the jaws of death.

My father is a rich man and has good landed property. As I am his only son, I shall have to look after it after his death. Since I want to practise medicine in my village I shall be able to do this. My father fully approves of my plan.
